Strategic priorities for the next 12–18 months
Our strategic priorities are:
- Initiative 1: Reimagine the organization and its programming/services beyond the FM dial into the digital media future. This would be motivated by being a consistent and reliable source for regional news, giving voice to the voiceless, and building more audience engagement opportunities.
- Initiative 2: Recruit, employ, and retain staff and work towards fair compensation for quality staff members.
- Initiative 3: Establish a solid and sustainable financial position and physical infrastructure for the organization into the future with proper reserves, investments, and an endowment.
What are the biggest challenges you are navigating right now?
A drop in traditional broadcast listening is hurting public media, and our model of volunteer programming is especially challenging. We need to retain donors and build a younger audience while using social media to attract new and younger members.
What are the opportunities you are most excited about?
We have a new energy around IRL events and using paid Meta/Google Ads to get the word out about who we are to a new audience. This includes a new hire to help with these priorities.
